I took my post, I took it down…

I took my post, I took it down…

I took my post, I took it down…

You know the song, “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac? The one that starts:

I took my love, I took it down

Climbed a mountain and I turned around.

Well, sometimes songs get bit mixed up in my head, and right now I have these words playing on loop: “I took my post, I took it down…”

See, I’m giving a class on Human Design on Wednesday, so today I thought, hey, let’s post this everywhere, you know like how everyone else does it… get more people seeing it, get more views…

So I made a pretty post to use on Instagram. It had flashy animations and a link to the registration form for the class. As of now, I don’t really post on Instagram so it took some time learning how to do it all.

But once I posted it, shared it all over, and even got quite a few positive responses – I looked back at what I’d put out and it was clear to me that this way of promoting myself was actually not correct for me.

That’s why I’d never done it before. This particular way of presenting myself and what I’m up to – even though it works so well for other people – it’s not my thing, not my style, and it doesn’t suit me.

I feel like there is a strong message out in the world right now which basically says: “Feel the fear and do it anyway. Go beyond your comfort zone. Try new things. Go on, be vulnerable.”

Or to use the analogy of clothing: “You’ve always wondered what it’s like to wear a dress like that – go for it, try it on!”

And I’m really not coming to negate that. I see there can be truth and growth in that approach. I’ve used it myself and seen success. But what I do what to do is shine some light on the other side, something that’s equally true, that brings some balance.

I want to remember the voice says: “To thine own self be true. Listen to your inner voice. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing if it doesn’t feel right. Trust in your own process, and that by following it, you’ll get to where you need to go.”

And in clothing terms: “Work out what your own style is, what you love and what suits you best, then wear that!”

This is the voice I’m listening to today, and it’s actually one of the strongest themes I’ve found in Human Design. The idea that the most powerful thing you can do is to just be yourself. Live in the flow that’s right for you.

…Also, just want to say that “Landslide” is a truly magnificent song. I love how it evokes the passing of time… moving forward while remembering the past…

But time makes you bolder

Even children get older

And I’m getting older too.

There’s just so much there, isn’t there? The song has been covered countless times, but here’s a really beautiful version by Robin Sherwell. Enjoy!
