Under Pressure

Something I often struggle with is the pressure to do, do, do.

It’s not necessarily that I want to “do” any of it… I just want it all done!

As a (somewhat) creative person, I love that experience of tapping into something higher than yourself and expressing potential into form without even knowing where it came from…

But the downside is that sometimes I get such a rush of ideas, and it’s impossible to do all of them. If I’m honest, most of them will never see the light of day. And yet there’s the strongest pressure to bring them forth.

I’m reminded of the poem by John Keats, When I Have Fears That I May Cease to Be. That fear of not getting to do all you planned, of leaving the world, “Before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain”.

(Not that I’m comparing myself to Keats, l’havdil, but you know what I mean.)

All of this is present in my Human Design chart.

I have an open Root center, which puts pressure on me to get things done so I don’t have to worry about them any more.

My open Head center means I’m always receiving inspiration from the outside.

And I have the Gate 11.5 defined, which means I experience steady influx of ideas that I’m designed to share and universalize somehow.

Knowing all of this really does help. When you see the energies you’re working with in your chart, it helps you go, “Oh, so that’s why I am the way I am.”

You stop feeling guilty about who you are. You see it’s part of your design.

And then armed with this information, you figure out how to live with yourself!

Human Design has awesome tips and tricks to help you through life. (If you love this kind of thing, be in touch with me about getting a reading.)

However, nothing beats the power and goodness of Torah.

If Human Design can speak to someone on the level of their energy, Torah speaks directly to the soul.

Speaking of which, I heard a teaching today from a very wise rebbetzin that spoke exactly to my situation.

She said that the antidote to this feeling of wanting everything done, the illusion that “as soon as this happens, then I’ll be happy”, which is never actually the case – is gratitude.

Taking time throughout your day to reflect on what you do have, what you have accomplished already, and all the wonderful blessings that have been bestowed on you… that’s how you can be happy whatever situation you find yourself in.
